FRED AND ANN CARROLL THE HOLLYWOOD NIGHTMARE

Last year I picked up this "lobby card" advertising a live show with vaudeville performers Fred and Ann Carroll.

It looks like this couple gave the audience one very unique show back in the 1940s and 50s. They used masks during their dance routines. The masks were of popular Hollywood stars of the time and were hand made by the Carroll's.

My quick research didn't net much info on this masked vaudevillian act. I did manage to find a few articles from old newspapers online and someone is selling this advertising poster that's currently for sale on ebay.

It would be fun and interesting to learn more about the Carroll's. Too bad there's not any footage of their routine from some old TV show. According to the article below they demonstrated the art of mask making. Those kids at Canton High really saw something very cool! I kinda wonder if their routine was something like the routine by Fred Astaire? You know the one, where he danced wearing an Alfred E. Neuman mask. Click here to watch!

Their act looks both cool and kind of creepy. Too bad there's no surviving footage.
